Women’s March Saturday January 19
WOMEN’S MARCH 12 – 2 pm Courthouse Park on The Square, Goderich
The Huron/Bruce Chapter of Women’s March Canada, will be hosting a Women’s March on Jan. 19.
All are invited to march for all women – against violence and oppression, for equality, reproductive rights, LGTBTQ2S+ rights, workers’ rights, immigrants’ rights, civil rights, disability rights and environmental justice.
The day will begin with speeches from local women, discussing the issues faced by women across the country. This will be followed by a march around The Square. There will also be music provided by “Dames Rocket”.
Donations of feminine hygiene products for the Huron Women’s Shelter and local schools are being accepted and can be dropped off at designated bins during the event.
The Huron\Bruce Chapter will also be hosting a sign making event at the Goderich Library from 5:30-7:30 p.m. the night prior to the march, Jan. 18. Supplies will be provided but participants may also bring their own if they wish.

ANYTHING TO KEEP WARM
The Women of Knox recently collected items for the ‘ ANYTHING TO KEEP WARM’ Campaign. Co conveners Judy Pettey and Jan Sloane received and sorted over seven hundred, yes 700!, pieces of warmth………sox, hats, mitts, gloves, scarves, boots, underwear, sweaters, coats, vests, blankets and sleeping bags.
Congregants, friends, neighbours and community members came together to exceed last year’s ‘WARMTH’ achievement of 600 items. Many items were new and a substantial number were crafted by generous knitters.
Judy and Jan will be delivering this bounty in the next week to the Salvation Army in Goderich and Clinton and the London Mission Services which encompasses the Roth Home Family Shelter, the Mens Mission, the Gathering Place and Streetscapes.
Conveners acknowledged that London, as a community, has a great need for these items as so many more people there experience either homelessness or temporary but severe setbacks meaning they are unable to independently provide cold weather items for themselves and/or family.
The response has been HEARTWARMING…………..thank you to all who have shared so generously.
On Friday, November 9th, at 7:30 pm Knox Presbyterian Church, Mitchell will be presenting a concert of music for organ entitled “In Memoriam” with guest organist, Mr. Ian Sadler. The organ at Knox was installed after the First World War as a memorial to those members of the congregation who had served and died in the Great War. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of the end of hostilities. The progamme will contain music influenced by the war, and will include works by Brahms, Elgar, Parry and Widor. A freewill offering will be received.

Spaghetti supper Update!
We held our breath………..we weren’t sure………but in the end it was a certified success.
Our first Spaghetti Dinner at the Town Hall was well attended and well received by the community. The food was ‘eccellente’ and the atmosphere positively ‘Italian’.
Hard working volunteers, including Rev. Lisa, prepared and served the repast for which they received many compliments. Jamie McDougall of the Little Inn provided bar service as a volunteer for which we were most grateful
It was a long day but, in the end, the consensus was ‘Let’s do it again next year’ Deb C., I am paraphrasing your words!
